Activities for World Day Against Child Labour
Sakata Seed India Pvt. Ltd. (hereinafter, “SID”) holds a variety of activities in conjunction with World Day Against Child Labour (June 12th) set by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
In 2018, we held large-scale meetings and outdoor plays in major villages that produce seeds for Sakata. The meetings consisted of lectures on child labor rules and health safety environment procedures to producers and the general public. Topics included how children must be given a minimum level of education, how other people are responsible for encouraging children to obtain the education, how men and women must be paid equal wages for the same work, how to handle the chemical spray and disposals of bottles etc. Approximately 2,000 people attended the meetings.
In 2019, we held a meeting in the village of Koppal on World Day Against Child Labour. We were able to hold a successful meeting by obtaining the cooperation of numerous seed companies, vendors, supervisors, Government agencies, NGOs, and farmers.
SID also operates many other programs in various fields to promote skill development among farmers and raise social awareness.
