Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Initiatives

Basic Approach

SAKATA Group conducts business globally under the company motto “Quality, Reliability, and Service.” Corruption is unacceptable with our motto of “Reliability,” distorts fair competition, and can lead to potential human rights violations. SAKATA Group maintains a zero-tolerance stance toward corruption.
To contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through seeds and to fulfill our social responsibilities, we have established this Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy and are committed to its full compliance. The Group also encourages its business partners, suppliers, and other stakeholders to understand and support this policy.

SAKATA Group Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy

  1. Compliance with Laws and Regulations

    Sakata Seed Corporation and its affiliates (hereinafter referred to as “SAKATA Group”) comply with all applicable anti-bribery and corruption laws, regulations, and ethical standards in the countries and regions where we operate. The Group conducts business fairly and with integrity under all circumstances. 

  2. Zero Tolerance of Bribery and Corrupt Practices

    SAKATA Group ensures fair and free competition in all countries and regions where we operate and has zero tolerance for any form of bribery*¹ or corruption*² in our business activities. 

  3. Appropriate Accounting and Recordkeeping

    To ensure accountability, SAKATA Group maintains accurate business records and manages them appropriately under an internal control system. 

  4. Education and Training

    SAKATA Group provides compliance training to all employees and officers of the Group (hereinafter referred to as “employees/officers”) to raise awareness and ensure understanding of this policy. 

  5. Reporting System, Investigation, and Remediation

    Employees/officers must promptly report any actual or suspected violations of this policy to the Compliance Consultation Center of each group company or the person in charge thereof. Upon receiving a report, SAKATA Group will conduct appropriate investigations and take corrective actions to resolve the issue.

  6. Response to Violations

    If any employees/officers engage in conduct that violates this policy, SAKATA Group will take strict disciplinary action in accordance with internal rules and employee regulations. 

  7. Governance

    This policy has been approved by the Board of Directors of Sakata Seed Corporation. The President and Representative Director is responsible for its implementation. The Board of Directors monitors compliance and implementation.
    This policy was developed with input from external experts and will be reviewed and updated as necessary.

  8. Information Disclosure

    SAKATA Group will appropriately disclose our anti-bribery and corruption initiatives and continuously improve this policy and its implementation.

    Bribery: Offering or receiving excessive hospitality, entertainment, gifts, or professional services that deviate from social norms, or any monetary or non-monetary benefits, including promises or approvals, to gain improper advantages in relationships with public officials or other stakeholders.

    Corruption: Any form of corrupt conduct, including bribery, money laundering, conflicts of interest, embezzlement, obstruction of justice, coercion, and bid-rigging. This also includes making unjust requests to business partners for personal gain by abusing one’s position or authority within the company, as well as complying with unjust requests from business partners.
