All-America Selections (Vegetables)
All-America Selections (AAS) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1932 to introduce and promote new superior varieties of flowers and vegetables to gardeners in the USA and Canada. It is one of the most influential horticulture industry associations where world leading seed companies compete to submit their new breed varieties. Every year, cultivation comparison evaluation takes place in various trial grounds in the USA and Canada, and superior varieties (winning varieties) are chosen. Varieties that are particularly superior among these chosen varieties are awarded a gold medal. However, this does not happen very often. It is a greatly honoring award that is offered once or twice in 10 years.
